Orangutan Rescued in Aceh Timur


PEUREULAK, THEACEH.COM – The Natural Resources Conservation Agency’s (BKSDA) branch in Aceh province, evacuated Sumatran Orangutan (Pongo abelii) from the people garden in Tanjung Punti area, Blang Balok Village, Peureulak District, Aceh Timur, on Friday, October 19, 2018.

“The rescued orangutan is watching over the missing person, this is concluded temporarily because the location of the discovery is not a habitat for orangutans,” Sapto Aji Prabowo, head of BKSDA said in a statement on Saturday, as reported by Acehkita.com.

Sapto added, these orangutan around 15-20 years old was found based on the information by the community through the call center of BKSDA. Then the team of BKSDA directly to the location.

Before being evacuated, the first step is doing anesthetized of orangutan. Then these orangutan brought to orangutan rehabilitation center in Sibolangit, Sumatera Utara. “To check, before releasing it into its habitat,” said Sapto.[]
